Manchester United's Review Continues Amid Ten Hag's Uncertain Future

It's been more than two weeks since Erik ten Hag's Manchester United triumphed over Manchester City in an FA Cup final that was touted as potentially his last game. Despite the surprise victory over their rivals, the Dutchman's future remains in limbo as United's top brass continue their season review.

Leading up to the final, discussions were rife about Ten Hag's job security. Some sources even claimed that the manager would be dismissed regardless of the outcome at Wembley, citing a disastrous season where United finished eighth — their worst performance since the 1989-90 campaign when Sir Alex Ferguson nearly lost his job.

Ten Hag, however, remained defiant. In an interview in the Netherlands, he asserted that the club's new co-owners, Ineos, intended to rebuild the team "with me." This statement, it seems, was more optimistic than factual.

Ten Hag's comments were based on his interpretation of previous conversations with Ineos representatives, including Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Sir Dave Brailsford, and Jason Wilcox. These discussions gave him the impression of support from the new owners. However, in reality, United had planned a comprehensive review at the season's end, with Ten Hag's position being a crucial part of that evaluation.

As United's review drags on, the uncertainty surrounding Ten Hag's future at Old Trafford continues to overshadow the club's off-season plans.
