Former Manchester United midfielder Lou Macari has lauded Scott McTominay for his remarkable season, highlighting his pivotal role for both the Red Devils and Scotland's national team at Euro 2024. Scotland's fate in the tournament hinges on their final group game against Hungary, where a win could secure their spot in the last 16.

Macari, who has been impressed with McTominay's performances this season, shared his thoughts on the latest episode of 'The Debate' on MUTV. He emphasized the midfielder's significance to both club and country, especially in the upcoming crucial match against Hungary.

"In the season, he did exceptionally well for us and for Scotland the other night, and for Scotland in general. He's done brilliantly in that midfield," Macari said. "Watching the other night was completely different to the first game. The first game, Scotland started off so lackadaisical and they weren't marking people. Every time Germany went forward, they looked as if they could score."

Macari noted the stark contrast in Scotland's performance in their second game. "The second game, right from the start, they were closing down, they were getting amongst people and playing the way a Scottish team, in my opinion, has got to play. I'm looking forward to the Hungary game because if they can do what they did [against Switzerland], then they can do it," he concluded.

Scotland's clash with Hungary will determine their progression in Euro 2024, and Macari's confidence in McTominay's abilities underscores the importance of the midfielder's contribution to the team's success.
