In a milestone achievement, Cristiano Ronaldo has set a new record in European football. Portugal's national team coach, Roberto Martinez, opted to keep the captain, Ronaldo, and goalkeeper Diogo Costa in the starting lineup for their match against Georgia.

Portugal played its final match in Group F of the Euro 2024 tournament on Wednesday, having already secured a spot in the Round of 16 as group leaders.

Ronaldo's appearance in the game allowed him to mark a significant milestone, according to Bleacher Report. The legendary forward has become the first European player to participate in 50 matches across major tournaments.

Ronaldo's career includes 28 matches in the UEFA European Championship (Euro) and 22 matches in the FIFA World Cup. Throughout these appearances, he has scored a total of 22 goals, with 14 of them coming in the Euros, making him the all-time top scorer in the European Championship.

At 39 years old, Ronaldo is eager to open his scoring account in Euro 2024, having failed to score in the first two matches against the Czech Republic and Turkey.
