Deschamps Reveals Mbappe to Undergo Nose Surgery After Euros
Kylian Mbappe will undergo additional tests on Wednesday after breaking his nose in the match against Austria.

France coach Didier Deschamps has confirmed that Kylian Mbappe will undergo surgery at the end of the European Championship, following a broken nose sustained in the Group D opener against Austria. Speaking to France's official media, Deschamps revealed that Mbappe would also undergo further tests on Wednesday to monitor his progress.

Mbappe's injury sent shockwaves across France after he was forced to withdraw from his debut against Austria. Initially, there were fears he might need immediate surgery, but those concerns were later allayed. However, the star forward will have to play with a protective mask, and his availability for Friday's match against the Netherlands remains uncertain.

Deschamps provided an update on Tuesday, stating that Mbappe was "a little better" and would be "closely monitored every day" to determine when he could return to competition at Euro 2024.

"More tests will be carried out on Wednesday to see how he evolves. It was a major shock. The medical staff did everything necessary to reduce it as much as possible after the examinations. Even if there is no surgery right away, he will have to have it. Already this morning he was a bit better, so we will see. We will follow it closely every day," Deschamps told the French Football Federation's official media.

Deschamps added that the additional tests on Wednesday are crucial to understanding the full extent of the injury. While Mbappe's participation in upcoming matches against the Netherlands and Poland is in doubt, the striker is expected to remain a part of the squad for Euro 2024 and could return to action wearing a protective mask.
